The Shibuya Pixel Art executive committee, which holds the "world's largest pixel art contest & festival", has released its unique NFT platform specialized in pixel art, called 'the PIXEL'.
Starting from December 22nd, 2021 (Wednesday) at 14:00, we will gradually sell the latest pixel art NFT works of the national artist Yuzu, which were announced at the special exhibition "YUZUTOWN Special Exhibition" held in September of this year.
'the PIXEL' was developed utilizing Mint V2, a major update of NFT development platform "Mint" developed by Kyuzan Co., Ltd. Its development aims to provide a unique NFT mechanism such as joint ownership and full on-chainization in the future.

'the PIXEL' Overview

The concept of 'the PIXEL', which Shibuya Pixel Art announced as a beta version, is the "ultimate one point." Focusing on the act of "striking" dot art itself and the minimum unit (1 pixel) called "Pixel", it defines the value per pixel and challenges artists and audiences with that value. The artist does not necessarily have to choose a small canvas, but by choosing their own canvas, they have a certain constraint common to pixel art and provide a mechanism that promotes richer expression with fewer "Pixels". 'the PIXEL' Features

'the PIXEL' is an NFT platform (beta version) where artists can participate with peace of mind.

• 'the PIXEL' adopts the Ethereum standard (ERC-721) and deploys a unique smart contract (ERC-721) specifically for 'the PIXEL'.

• In this beta version, the metadata of NFT is stored in IPFS, and content provision is performed.

• In the future, we will prepare for complete on-chainization by enhancing the value of low resolution / lightweight data.

• "The PIXEL" uses Lazy Minting as its NFT issuance method. Therefore, artists are not required to pay the Gas fee at the time of listing, and buyers are required to pay the Gas fee at the time of transaction.

• All participating pixel artists must be introduced and approved.

Formed in March 1996 by Yuji Kitagawa and Atsuharu Iwasawa. In October 1997, they made their CD debut with their first mini album "Yuzu no moto". Their catchy melodies, unique harmonies, and unpretentious, empathetic lyrics were well received, and their first single, "Natsu-iro", released the following June, became a smash hit. Since then, they have released many hit songs including "Someday," "Eiko-no Kakehashi," "Niji," and "Ame-nochi Harureruya. Their latest song "KIKIKAIKAIKAI" is now available for download, and they are scheduled to release a new album in the spring of 2022, followed by their first arena tour in four years.

About the Major Update Mint V2
