Shin Yamagishi's First Photograph NFT Work "Tattoo/Chie"
Title: "Tattoo/Chie"
Sale Period: Friday, August 20, 2021, 9:00 p.m. ~ Friday, September 3, 2021, 9:00 p.m.
Explanation:
Model Chie Takaoka has tattoos that cover her entire back which are expressed solely in black ink, a style commonly known as "glass carving". Shin Yamagishi captured the strange interplay between her feminine curves and the finely detailed yet grotesque tattoos in monochrome for an ambitious work.
Shin Yamagishi Interview:
Immersing in the tattoo itself rather than the woman wearing it!
Chie Takaoka visited Shin Yamagishi's photo exhibition and her tattoos piqued his interest, which led him to take more photos of her tattoos rather than just photos of her. With the idea that her tattoos should be more prominent, he urged her to focus on showcasing them more. This widened the range of the world in front of him. It seems that this is something that she is also aware of. Her tattoos are still evolving and expanding, and completion is near. He thinks that he needs to evolve his own photos in the same way.
Chie Takaoka is active as an art model where she sees her body as a form of art. With a technique known as "wabori", she only uses black ink to convey a powerful black tattoo that covers almost her entire back. By not having tattoos from her arms to her navel, it accentuates the contrast between the tattoo and normal skin.
